Good News Story

Kane’s Story

Find out how Kane’s resilience and MTC Australia’s support helped him secure a position at Commonwealth Bank through Workforce Australia.

In these times of unprecedented challenges, Kane, a young Indigenous job seeker, has carved a unique path for himself, demonstrating an inspiring display of resilience and determination.

Overcoming uncertainty

Following the uncertainties and challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, Kane decided to join MTC Australia’s Workforce Australia Services. The profound impact of the pandemic compelled Kane to reassess his life’s trajectory, pushing him to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Through these trials, Kane emerged with newfound strength and resilience.

Expanding horizons and new opportunities

With prior experience in a fast-paced food service environment, Kane had hoped for clarity in defining a dynamic and meaningful career path. He attended the Babana Aboriginal Employment Day and recruitment information days, expanding his horizons and adding new opportunities to his resume.

Kane’s quest for progress led him to the Commonwealth Bank Indigenous Program, where he was referred by MTC’s dedicated Industry Engagement Manager. With the support of MTC in resume writing and interview preparation, Kane confidently navigated through a series of interviews and landed an impressive one-year contract at the Commonwealth Bank’s Human Resources Academy.

This new role at one of Sydney’s most architecturally stunning buildings, the South Eveleigh Office, marks Kane’s first venture into the corporate world. The transition has been smoothly facilitated by the continuous emotional support provided by MTC’s Allied Health service.

An inspirational journey

Kane’s journey is an inspiring tale of a young individual who, despite the challenges life threw at him, remained unwavering in his pursuit of a purposeful career. His journey is not defined by his past, but by his willingness to learn and grow. His story is not just an inspiration for other young job seekers, but a shining beacon of hope to anyone facing hardship.
