Rodger’s entrepreneurial journey

In late 2021, Rodger embarked on his self-employment journey with the support of MTC Australia’s Self-Employment Assistance. His connection to the program began through his Workforce Australia Consultant and an Allied Health representative at Redfern. Rodger’s first significant step was meeting Kathleen, a Self-Employment Assistance Business Mentor, and enrolling in the online BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business course.

A revolutionary business Idea

Rodger’s business idea, “Jandesk Consultancy Services,” aimed to offer cloud-based collaboration and customer relationship management software. This innovative solution was designed to simplify complex human resource activities for commercial, corporate, and industrial clients, providing reliable and comprehensive support.

Support and growth

Throughout his online course, Rodger received unwavering support from the MTC team, including regular check-in calls during the development of his Self-Employment Assistance Business Plan and continued contact even after the course’s completion. This unwavering support was crucial in transitioning from student to entrepreneur.

Business launch and success

The transition from student to successful entrepreneur began when Rodger availed MTC Australia’s Self-Employment Assistance Coaching services. Regular meetings, initially fortnightly and then monthly, provided essential guidance for Rodger’s business launch and to ensure its ongoing financial viability. The result was the successful establishment of smartydesk.com, initially known as Jandesk. The business has consistently generated income and recently introduced SmartyDesk AI to its offerings.
