MTC Australia endorses the Uluru Statement from the Heart

MARRCKVILLE, 23 AUGUST 2023: MTC Australia endorses the Uluru Statement from the Heart and supports its call for Voice, Treaty and Truth.

We extend our gratitude to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the opportunity to reflect on our history and walk together toward a better future for all Australians.

As a not-for-profit education, training, and employment services provider that operates across New South Wales and Queensland, MTC’s vision for reconciliation is an Australia that values and embraces the unique cultures, contributions, perspectives, and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with a national culture that promotes equality, acceptance, and the recognition of our longstanding shared history. This vision is supported by our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Through our RAP, MTC is committed to encouraging equal participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in education and employment opportunities and to shaping inclusive workplaces that reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate.

MTC works closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through our suite of programs and services. Given the nature of our work, we witness first-hand the impacts that disadvantage can have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We see adopting the Uluru Statement’s recommendations as an important opportunity for Australia to shape a more inclusive nation that acknowledges and respects our First Nations peoples.

MTC respects the diverse range of opinions held by individuals within our organisation and in the broader community. Ahead of this year’s referendum on the Voice to Parliament, we encourage all members of the public to engage in respectful dialogue and take the time to learn more about the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its calls for Voice, Treaty and Truth.
