Good News Story

Jian Hong’s story

Jian Hong migrated to Australia from China a few years about with strong English language skills. Unfortunately, he had difficulty finding a job in Australia because he wasn’t able to communicate well and didn’t enjoy speaking in English.

Despite this barrier, Jian Hong was very keen to find a job and knew that improving his English language skills would help him do that.

When Jian Hong first joined MTC Australia’s Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, he was very shy and wasn’t confident in his ability to speak English. Because of this, he had trouble engaging himself in casual conversations and couldn’t improve his English alone.

But Jian Hong thrived in the SEE Program! He took all of his lessons very seriously and kept lists of words to review regularly.

Thanks to the massive improvement that Jian Hong made in the SEE program, he can speak confidently and conversationally in English and has found a job. Jian Hong now works full-time as a chef at Pho Luck and is happy to be working in an environment he enjoys.

We are very proud of Jian Hong’s success, and we can’t wait to try his food!
