Student Enrolment Processes
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
From 1 January 2015 onwards, all students who undertake Vocational Education and Training (VET) must hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is a unique reference made of 10 numbers that is allocated to anyone studying nationally recognised Vocational Educational Training in Australia. If you do not have a USI, you can create one by visiting the USI website. On the Get your USI page, under Guide and More Information, you may find instructions on how to get a USI.
You can find further visual instructions in this step-by-step video.
Enrolment process
MTC Australia’s process for enrolling a student in NSW Government-subsidised training under Smart and Skilled involves:
- Confirming eligibility for Smart and Skilled
- Collecting information and evidence to support your eligibility
- Obtaining student consent for the Department and other government agencies’ use of information
- Student declaration confirming information provided is true and not misleading
- Confirming fee structure
- Providing or creating a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Once these steps are complete, MTC Australia processes the enrolment application. MTC values your privacy. Click here to view Privacy Policy
