Our Story

MTC Australia is an independent social enterprise that gives people the inspiration, capability, and opportunity to create a fulfilling life.

For more than 35 years we’ve been delivering high-impact employment, mentoring and training programs that help more than 20,000 people annually gain skills for employment and entrepreneurship, build their self-worth, and create the life they want to live.

Our History

MTC was established in 1989 in the Sydney suburb of Marrickville by a team of just three. The name MTC represented the original focus of the new social enterprise: Marrickville Community Training Centre.

The original team founded MTC to assist the most disadvantaged and as we’ve grown, we’ve expanded our focus to support people from all backgrounds who want to improve their employment skills and prospects.

Youth & Support Services

We deliver innovative programs that support young people to set and achieve their goals. These include mentoring opportunities, programs that provide pathways to employment, and personalised support to stay engaged at school and connected at home. Programs include Opportunity Hub, National Student Wellbeing Program and No Interest Loans Scheme as well as our social impact strategy which aims to directly support young people and their families.

At MTC Australia, we know that sometimes personal challenges can prevent people from making progress, so our Allied Health team helps people overcome these challenges. Our network of practitioners provides confidential services at no cost to our clients.

NDIS Services

Sometimes people need extra help to develop the skills needed to find and keep a job or to decide on the right educational pathway. We know that securing meaningful work with an employer that supports you can be life changing so our NDIS Services are designed to help anyone who has an NDIS plan and wants to find work. Through Youth Employment Assistance (formerly SLES) and NDIS Employment Support, we can be your personalised service as you chase your dreams and achieve your employment goals.
