Whether you have a business idea or are simply curious about starting your own business, our Exploring Self-Employment workshops can provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to understand what it takes to own and run your own business and whether it’s right for you.

BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business

This course is perfect for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to take their small business ideas to the next level. Through this course, you’ll explore various business opportunities and develop a detailed business plan, complete with financial tables. The course also covers essential skills for running a small business, such as customer service, finance, and marketing.

BSBSS00103 New Business Ventures Skill Set

This course is ideal for those with some business experience or those unable to commit to a longer course. In 8 weeks, you’ll explore business opportunities and develop a business plan, complete with financial tables. You’ll also gain essential skills for running a small business, such as determining resource requirements, finance, and marketing. This course is self-paced so you can take complete the course during the hours that suit you with weekly support from our experienced trainers.

BSBSS00102 Micro Business Skill Set

This course enables aspiring entrepreneurs to take the next step in getting their small business off the ground. In 6 weeks, you will explore business opportunities and develop a business plan, complete with financial tables.

Am I eligible if I don't live in the regions you provide Self-Employment Assistance?

No, please visit the Workforce Australia website for information on SEA providers in your region.

Am I eligible if I have already started my business?

Yes, as long as:

  • You are not currently operating commercially.
  • There is no risk of you not operating commercially within the next 12 months.
Can I work part-time and develop my business at the same time?

Yes, as long as the external income is not greater than twice the amount you receive from Self-Employment Assistance. Your part-time job should not interfere with your business development.

Am I eligible if I work full-time?

You can apply for the program while working full-time as you transition to your business.

I previously completed the NEIS program, can I still apply for Self-Employment Assistance?

Yes, but if you previously participated in NEIS/Self-Employment Assistance you must wait one year before reapplying.
