Get to know: Joseph Yap

We are very happy to welcome Joseph Yap to MTC Australia as our new General Manager of Governance, Risk and Compliance. Joseph brings a wealth of experience in quality and risk management to MTC and is tasked with building on the strong foundations already in place in the organisation. Joseph answered a few questions to help us get to know him better.

Q&A

Where did you work prior to MTC?

My most recent role is for an Aged Care Home Care Package provider, HomeMade. Prior to this, I’ve worked in various roles within the Healthcare industry, including at GenesisCare, a global cancer care provider; GP Synergy, the training provider for the RACGP; Health Insurers HCF & Medibank; and Pathology provider Sonic Healthcare.

What made you want to come and work at MTC?

MTC is just so inspiring! Witnessing the amazing impact that this organisation can have on people’s lives is what drew me in. And, when I discovered that MTC’s values aligned perfectly with my own, I knew I had to be a part of this team.

What are you responsible for in your role at MTC?

I am responsible for overseeing and uplifting the Risk and Quality Management function of MTC to support the business in meeting its objectives.

Tell us a bit about your life outside of work.

I love spending time with my partner, who I’ve been with for nine years (we just got married last year!), and of course, my adorable little dog Cooper. When I’m not hanging out with them, I’m busy being the coolest godfather ever to my 10 nieces and nephews. Dining out and traveling are also some of my favourite pastimes. And, to add a bit of excitement to my life, I recently started attending drama school – it’s an amazing way to let my creativity run wild!

Do you have any exciting plans for your easter break?

I’m currently planning a (very) last minute dog-friendly staycation. We must keep Cooper happy!

In terms of work, I want to develop a deeper understanding of MTC and work closely with my new colleagues so I can provide effective support. On the personal side, my goal is to complete my drama school training and secure a role in a play!

Are there any TV shows, movies, or books that you’ve seen or read recently that you’d recommend?

I have recently watched 1899 on Netflix, and I’m also enjoying the series Succession. Although my all time favourite movie is Titanic.
