Workforce Australia Points Based Activation System (PBAS) FAQs
What is the Points Based Activation System (PBAS)?
For people getting income support with mutual obligation requirements, Workforce Australia includes a Points Based Activation System (PBAS). PBAS gives you more choice and flexibility in how you meet your obligations each reporting period. You’ll complete tasks and activities to earn the points you need to meet your points target which has been individually tailored to your situation.
How does PBAS work?
Every customer has a minimum number of points to reach each month. You will meet with your MTC Coach, and your points targets will be tailored to suit your circumstances.
Points can be earned with job searches and activities. Each task or activity you do is worth a certain number of points. For each reporting period, you will choose different tasks and activities that add up to your points target. If you earn over your points target, you can bank points and use them towards your next reporting period target.
How much will each task and activity be worth in points?
Each task or activity has been allocated a points value starting from five (5) points. These points are set by Workforce Australia. Please visit the link below for the list of points values.
How do I earn and report points?
At the beginning of each reporting period, with the support of your MTC Coach, you will choose different tasks and activities that add up to your points target. Each task or activity you do is worth a certain number of points, and you will report the tasks or activities via your Workforce Australia account online or on the Workforce Australia app. If you earn over your points target, you can bank points to use in your next reporting period. Please visit the link below for more information on reporting your points.
Can I have a discussion with my Coach about the number of points allocated to my activity?
Yes, you sure can! PBAS is a tailored program, so your MTC Coach will work with you to tailor this program to suit your circumstances. Your Coach may increase the points value of certain tasks or activities through an activity bonus to reflect your individual circumstances. Please discuss this with your MTC Coach at your next appointment.
Will every Workforce Australia customer have the same points target?
At MTC, we understand every customer will need unique support on their journey to employment and therefore, our program will be tailored for each customer. Your MTC Coach will get to know you and create a program to suit your requirements – a tailored program just for you.
What happens if I don’t reach my points target?
If you don’t meet your obligations, your payments could be reduced or suspended. To help you stay on track, your Workforce Australia homepage and your Participation History page will have compliance symbols. There is a green, orange and red zone.
