We are excited to share a heartwarming success story from MTC Australia’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program, which our team has been running since September 2023. Proudly funded by the Queensland Government, this initiative is dedicated to helping individuals like Martin overcome employment barriers and achieve meaningful, sustained employment.
Martin’s journey
Martin, a mature-aged job seeker, faced significant challenges in finding employment due to the impacts of the Covid pandemic and lockdowns. Despite his efforts, securing a stable job seemed out of reach. However, his story took a remarkable turn after joining the Skilling Queenslanders for Work TKO Program at MTC Australia.
After just one day in the program, under the guidance of Skilling Queenslanders for Work Co-ordinator Daniel, Martin was referred to an employer by MTC’s Recruitment Coach, Sam. This referral led to an interview and ultimately, a job offer! Martin continued attending the program for two weeks, diligently enhancing his skills and confidence.
Program success
Daniel, the program co-ordinator, praised Martin’s dedication, noting improvements in his resume writing skills and interview techniques. This support was instrumental in Martin securing a position at TSA, a Telstra call centre.
Martin described his experience, sharing: “Not only did I have a lot of fun but I learnt gratitude and discipline from my mentors. My main achievement was the networking and valuable contacts with industry partners that allowed me to land a job in no time with TSA, a Telstra call centre that promises to be challenging and, at the same time, rewarding.”
Overcoming challenges to achieve goals
Martin expressed his gratitude to the MTC Australia team, particularly co-ordinator Daniel and Recruitment Coach James, for their practical advice and unwavering support. Martin’s story is a testament to the program’s success in helping mature-aged candidates overcome challenges and achieve their career goals.
Martin’s story is a shining example of how MTC Australia’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program is making a significant difference in the lives of job seekers. The program not only provides practical skills and confidence but also opens doors to valuable industry contacts and employment opportunities.
