Monica’s Story

A lifelong fascination with numbers and a burning desire to make her family proud led to Monica taking on a challenge that would deter many. She decided to start a tax consulting and accounting business while a single parent living on the outskirts of Sydney – no small feat!

Monica completed her financial education and gained valuable experience working for other businesses before deciding she was ready to venture out on her own.

Monica came to MTC Australia’s Self-Employment Assistance seeking support in starting her own business. Specifically she wanted assistance with her networking and business development skills. MTC Australia Self-Employment Assistance Mentor Isaac coached Monica on how to develop an elevator speech or one liner about her business and how best to introduce herself. They also worked on Monica’s listening and communications skills.

MTC Australia also provided financial assistance and paid for Monica’s business insurance and accounting licences.

MTC Australia Mentor Isaac said Monica was making her mark in the world of tax consulting, proving that with passion and determination, even the most challenging obstacles could be overcome.
