Tailored support for your business needs

Do you need help growing your small business or overcoming challenges? MTC’s Self-Employment Assistance is tailored to you. We offer Business Health Checks, Small Business Coaching and Advice, and Training and Business Planning to help take your business to the next level. Once you have registered, one of our experienced mentors will call to advise the best solution for your business.

Small Business Coaching and Advice

Our Small Business Coaching offers personalised one-on-one sessions with a Business Coach who will mentor you through any challenges and help get your business back on track. With 12 months of tailored mentoring and support, you’ll receive the guidance needed to run your small business successfully.

If ongoing coaching doesn’t fit your schedule, consider our Business Advice Sessions. These one-hour, one-on-one sessions with a business advisor provide targeted advice to help you manage your existing business effectively.

Training and Business Planning

If you would prefer to upskill, then our training and business planning courses are the right fit for you. Refresh your business and marketing skills with our BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business. This 13-week course helps you build new skills and fine-tune your business plan. You can take it online or face-to-face.

If you prefer a shorter course, we also offer the following skill sets:

Business Health Check

Our Business Health Check is a three-hour analysis session designed to improve your business’ finances. During this one-on-one session, a Business Coach will look at how your business is performing and provide you with step-by-step strategies to improve and grow your business.

Each Business Health Check includes:

    • A thorough analysis of your business
    • Opportunities for improvement (where the Business Coach sees fit)
    • Connections to local businesses that can support and benefit you
    • A solid action plan to take your business to the next level.

Am I eligible if I don't live in the regions you provide Self-Employment Assistance?

No, please visit the Workforce Australia website for information on SEA providers in your region.

Am I eligible if I have already started my business?

Yes, you are eligible if you have an existing business. It’s best to speak to one of our experienced mentors who will assess the viability of the idea.

Can I work part-time and develop my business at the same time?

Yes, as long as the external income is not greater than twice the amount you receive from Self-Employment Assistance. Your part-time job should not interfere with your business development.

Am I eligible if I work full-time?

You can apply for the program while working full-time as you transition to your business.

I previously completed the Self-Employment Assistance Program, can I still apply?

Yes, but if you previously participated in Self-Employment Assistance, you must wait one year before reapplying.
