Study remotely with the SEE Program
MTC Australia offers the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program to people who are unable to attend a site for face-to-face classes and want to study remotely. Through SEE Distance Learning, you can get ready for study, work or your next step by improving your English language, reading, writing, numeracy and digital skills.
When you join the SEE Program at MTC, we will tailor the course to your abilities and goals, so you feel comfortable and safe as you learn. Improving your English language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills will build your confidence, your ability to engage in your community and to undertake further study.
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. MTC offers flexible training in reading, writing, and speaking English, as well as lessons in numeracy, employability and computer skills.
Am I eligible for Skills for Education & Employment?
To be eligible for the SEE Program, an individual must be:
aged over 15 years and have left school, and
either be an Australian citizen, or a permanent visa holder, or on a provisional or temporary visa with working rights and eligible for the Adult Migrant English Program, or a Pacific Australian Labour Mobility visa holder, and
not enrolled in the Adult Migrant English Program any other Program as advised by the department from time to time
To find out more details about eligibility, visit the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations website.
You are eligible for SEE Distance Learning if you:
are employed on a full-time basis
live in a rural or remote area
have a disability, health issues, have primary caring responsibilities or religious or cultural practices
What’s the difference between enrolling for SEE Mainstream and SEE Distance Learning?
If you enrol in SEE Distance Learning, all of your lessons and learning will be completed remotely, and you will not attend a class in person or take part in face-to-face sessions. Studying distance, participants will have support from your Trainer to complete the course at your own pace.
What’s involved in the SEE Distance Learning?
When you join MTC’s SEE Distance Learning, you will join a weekly class session via Microsoft Teams, and you will also have a weekly one-on-one session with your Trainer.
During class time you will have the chance to e-meet your classmates and participate in online discussions and group activities. These class sessions will be recorded so you can review them when needed. The one on one sessions are an opportunity for you to talk with your Trainer and ask questions about your studies.
Support services
Signing up to SEE at MTC opens up a world of support to ensure your learning journey is not just educational but transformative. Our Support Services are designed with you in mind, addressing any barriers that might stand in your way.
While you’re studying from a distance, our dedicated Participant Support Officers (PSOs) are your go-to resource to make sure you get the most out of your time training with MTC. Your PSO is your key contact when you need to access support to overcome barriers that may be impacting your ability to study, find work, stay motivated or achieve your goals. Early in your training with MTC, you will have a 1-on-1 Introductory Session with your PSO where they will explain their role and introduce you to the different ways they can offer you support. It’s a chance for you to ask questions and get familiar with all that’s on offer. You will have access to three hours of support with a PSO throughout your training with MTC.
