Deferring, Discontinuing, or Withdrawing From Your Course
Deferment of studies may be granted if you are enrolled in an MTC qualification offered under the Smart and Skilled initiative are experiencing difficulties.
Deferring training
If you are enrolled with MTC Australia in a qualification offered under a subsidised program, and you are experiencing difficulties with your training due to personal or other related circumstances, you may wish to defer your studies for a maximum period of 12 months from the date of your written request.
If you choose to defer your studies, you are required to complete a ‘Withdrawal/Refund/Deferment Request Form’. There are fee implications of deferring subsidised training and MTC Australia will advise you of these fees at the time of deferment. We will extend full support to ensure you are able to continue and complete your studies when you are ready. It is essential that you recommence your training within the 12 month period from the date of commencement of your deferment period. If you fail to do so, MTC has an obligation to advise the NSW Department of Education about your decision to discontinue the subsidised training.
Discontinuing training
A student may withdraw/discontinue from a course for any reason. Should you need to cancel or withdraw from your training at any time, you must advise MTC Australia in writing by completing the ‘Withdrawal/Refund/Deferment Request Form’.
For more details about receiving a refund, please refer to our Refund Policy (P 053 Refund Policy). If a student has successfully completed at least one module or unit of competency, they may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment.
